Jonathan Melville Pratt is a composer, singer, percussionist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer living in Brooklyn and working around the world.  Jonathan earned his bachelors degree in Classical Vocal Performance and “Interdisciplinary Composition” from The North Carolina School of the Arts in 2001.  Jonathan has been commissioned to compose and perform original music for John Dillon, Brian Mertes, Trish Casey, Sean Sullivan, Erin Beneze, Alana Stroud, Alban Elved Dance Company, Djamilla Moore, Chih-Chun Huang, Sarah Percival, Mimi Garrard Dance Company, Via Dance Collaborative, Daniel Charon, Jennifer Nugent, Jonah Bokaer, Amelia Uzategui, The Julliard School of Dance, Cindy Salgado, Jessica Harris, and The Julliard School of Drama.  Credits include: Dancing at Lunasa, The Lower Depths, The Ramayana, The Cherry Orchard, Uncle Vanya, Tone Clusters, The Indian Wants the Bronx, Platonov, The Greeks: Part one- The War, The Brothers Size (New York Premier at The Public Theater), The Greeks: Part Two- The Murders, The Brothers Size (Irish premier at The Abbey Theatre), The Greeks: Part Three- The Gods, scores for Films by Mimi Garrard: “A Dream with Three Brides”, “Tea Party” and “Dreaming Chekhov’s Dream”, score (work in progress) “Thirteen” for Larry Keigwin’s “Runaway” at The Juilliard School, score “Black Heart Pulling” for Emery LeCrone’s “Aphorismos” at the Columbia University Ballet Collaborative,  score for Nicole Wolcott’s “Verge”, score and performance for Helen Simoneau’s “Adventures in a Foreign Land” at the Joyce Soho,  score “Amniosis” for Nicole Wolcott at Duo Theater, Scores for short films by JP Chan “I Don’t Sleep I Dream” and “Empire Corner”, score “Triptych” for Keigwin and Company’s World Premier at The Joyce Theater, Score “Two Way Dream” (work  in progress) for Camille Browns “City of Rain” at Princeton University, critically acclaimed score “Thirteen” for Keigwin and Company’s “Runaway” at the Joyce Theater, score "Two Way Dream" for Strings, Percussion, Voice, and Laptop for Camille Browns "City of Rain" world premier The Joyce Theater, score MOTOR for evening length work with Brian Brooks Movement Company, world premier Lincoln Center, composition, performance, and musical direction Chekhov’s "Ivanov" directed by Brian Mertes at Lake Lucille, Score “Expect” for Will Rawls Premier at Dance Theater Workshop,  Percussion composition and performance for new original ballet, Dracula, composed by Felix Venturas and performed site specific by Island Moving Company, Score “The Chain Suite” for Helen Simoneau’s “Flight Distance III” World Premier Hanesbrands Theater Winston-Salem, NC.  In January 2011, Jonathan was one of 7 of 500 applicants from 60 countries to have been awarded the Sacatar International Arts Fellowship in Bahia, Brazil, January 2nd to February 28th 2011.  Upon his return to the states, Jonathan has recently completed scores for films by Celia Rowlson-Hall “A Study in Colour” for Keller NYC and  “Blue”, commissioned by Kate Spade. Jonathan is also making strides as a director and choreographer, creating a multi-media works “The Playdate”, “After Never”, “They Have Gone Backwards”, and “Victim Eyes” with writer/poet Ian Merrigan, AV master Robert Ramirez, and an array of talented performers. Jonathan recently completed a new score and sound design for Janusphere which premiered at La Mama in September, new score "The Flood Verses" for Janusphere, premier La Mama, Oct 7th, 2011, a duo collaboration with Kennis Hawkins entitled ".. and wanting", - premier St. Mark’s Church October 22nd 2011, a new dance solo with Rashaun Mitchell and Stacy Martorana for the International Solo Dance competition in Germany March, 2012. Currently Jonathan is working on two new commissions for Camille A. Brown, one set to premier at The Joyce in January 2013 and the other a commission from Juilliard Fall 2013.  Jonathan is also working on a new evening length work "Big City" in collaboration with Brian Brooks Moving Company, set to premier at The Joyce May 3oth, 2012, and nearing completion of two new collaborations with Keigwin and Company set to premier in spring of 2012. Jonathan is honored to be currently preparing to open Fruitlands with Katie Workum, her amazingly talented dancers, and a wonderful design team, not to mention The Chocolate Factory
